What animals do the BONE and HORN BEADS come from?
My standard answer is "Whatever they ate in that village last". The bone used for these beads are taken from animals that are normally eaten and are usually from India (so there aren't usually any cow beads). Deer, oxen, or water buffalo may be used as well as others. The most exotic bone beads I use are from buffalo (American Bison). These are most commonly used for Native American style jewelry.

What is a FAN?
A fan is a focal of five or more pieces arranged in graduated shapes or sizes.
